Lara Boyum, MS, RDN, LDN, CPT
Nutrition Therapist | Virtual Nutrition Counseling
Lara is a former collegiate soccer player who used to obsess over food with the goal to be the best athlete. Throughout her college experiences and education, she learned nutrition can be simultaneously gentle and intentional for sport without strict food rules. Embracing the “all foods can fit” mentality, she appreciates food as not only energy (“fuel”), but also significant in our daily experience with emotions, culture, and socialization.
She moved on to assist fueling athletes at both Louisiana State University as an intern and the University of Mississippi as a sports dietitian. Helping athletes maneuver diet culture and external pressures, her passion is to empower athletes to feel confident in their bodies, abilities, and nutrition strategies when it comes to fueling for their sport. She has experience in body composition testing and review, supplement education and selection, meal building and timing, fueling and hydrating for pre/during/post workouts, and nutrition strategies for return to play from injury.
She is dedicated to learning and is continuing her education at the University of Mississippi to obtain her PhD in nutrition. As a doctoral research assistant, her areas of interest are in tactical nutrition, specifically military, and studies a variety of topics in athlete under fueling and disordered eating. She is a volunteer dietitian with the Ole Miss Army, Navy, Marine, and Airforce ROTC providing education, counseling, and additional resources to improve the wellbeing and performance of the cadets and midshipmen.
Lara was born and raised in Minnesota and completed her undergraduate degree in Wisconsin before moving to Mississippi in 2021 to begin her master’s degree and work with the Ole Miss athletic teams (soccer, volleyball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, and football). She adopted a kitten named Frankie in January and enjoys lifting weights and playing recreational sports on her free time.
